Quick answer
As an admin you can add someone two ways from /employees. Invite to self-onboard sends the new hire an invite to fill their own onboarding form at /get-started, which you then review and approve. Direct add lets you enter all the details yourself and create the record immediately. Choose based on who enters the details.
Where do I start?
Go to Admin → Employees, at /employees, and choose to add a new person. From there you pick one of the two methods below.
How does invite to self-onboard work?
With this option, you send the new hire an invite. They open their own onboarding form at /get-started and fill in their details and documents. When they submit, it lands in your review queue at /employees/new, where you check it and approve.
Best when: the new hire can enter their own details
You do: send the invite, then review and approve later
They do: fill in the whole onboarding form themselves
How does direct add work?
With Direct add, you enter the details yourself and create the employee record straight away — no waiting for the person to fill anything in.
Best when: you already have all their details
You do: type the details and create the record now
They do: nothing to start; they can update their profile later
How do I do it, step by step?
Open /employees
Choose to add a new person.Pick your method
Select Invite to self-onboard or Direct add.If inviting
Send the invite; the new hire fills their form and you approve it later. If direct adding
Complete the fields and create the employee record immediately.
When does the employee ID appear?
Either path ends with an employee ID. For a self-onboard invite, the ID is assigned when you approve the submission. For a direct add, it is assigned as you create the record. You never assign duplicates.
