The Holidays page shows your company's holiday calendar for the year: a hero card counts down to the next holiday in days, hours, minutes and seconds, upcoming holidays are laid out as cards with a days-to-go badge, and past ones move to an "enjoyed" section. Holidays are also available from Slack via /ashr holidays and are automatically excluded when counting leave days.
What's on the Holidays page?
Everyone in the company can open Holidays from the sidebar. At the top, the next holiday gets a hero card with a live countdown ticking down to the day. Below that, quick stats show the year's totals — how many holidays in all, how many are still ahead, and how many you've already enjoyed.
Each upcoming holiday appears as a card with a "N days" badge, the day of the week, and a short note about the occasion. Click any card for a detail view with a "Did you know?" fun fact and its own countdown. Past holidays collect in a muted Enjoyed section, so you can see the year at a glance.
Holiday types
Holidays can be public (a day off for everyone), optional, or restricted. In Slack, optional and restricted holidays are labelled so you know which ones need a choice. The holiday list itself is maintained by your HR admin team.
Checking holidays from Slack
If your workspace has the Slack integration connected, type /ashr holidays anywhere in Slack. You'll get a private message with the next five upcoming holidays — name, day and date — visible only to you. The ASHR App Home tab in Slack also includes an upcoming-holidays widget alongside your leave balance and other shortcuts.
Holidays and leave
The holiday calendar isn't just decorative — it feeds the leave module. When you apply for time off, Sundays and public holidays inside your date range are excluded from the day count automatically, and the form tells you how many days were skipped. Holidays are also highlighted on the leave form's date picker, with the occasion shown on hover, so you can plan around long weekends.
