Quick answer

Open Holidays to see your organisation's calendar. Holidays are non-working days, so they never cost your leave balance. They are blocked in the leave date picker, and a holiday inside a leave range is not counted. For payroll, holidays are fully paid days.

Do holidays use my leave balance?

No. A holiday is already a non-working day, so it costs you nothing. You do not need to apply for leave on a holiday, and your balance stays untouched.

What happens if a holiday falls inside my leave?

The holiday is skipped, not counted. Say you take leave across a week that includes one holiday.

Leave applied: Mon to Fri (5 days)
Wednesday is a public holiday
Leave counted: 4 days
Balance charged: 4 days, not 5

Are holidays blocked in the leave picker?

Yes. When you choose leave dates, holidays are blocked out so you cannot accidentally spend leave on a day that is already off. This keeps your balance safe.

How do holidays affect payroll?

Holidays are paid days. Your salary is not reduced for them — they count as normal paid time. You simply enjoy the day off.

What about optional or regional holidays?

Some organisations mark certain holidays as optional or regional. An optional holiday is one you can choose to take, and a regional holiday may apply only to some locations. Check your Holidays calendar to see which apply to you.
