Clearance-task templates
The heart of the configuration is the clearance checklist — the set of tasks that must be completed before an exit closes (return the laptop, revoke access, hand over responsibilities, final payroll input, and so on). Define these as reusable templates so HR doesn't rebuild the list for every leaver.
When an exit starts, the current templates are snapshotted onto that case. Editing a template afterwards only affects future exits — an in-flight exit keeps the checklist it began with, which keeps your audit trail honest.
Defaults that speed up every exit
Set the defaults your process relies on — notice-period handling and the pieces HR shouldn't have to re-enter each time — so starting an exit is a few clicks rather than a blank form.
How it connects to the exit run
Once configured, HR runs each exit from Offboarding: start the exit (or accept an employee-submitted resignation), work the pre-populated clearance tasks, record the exit interview and full & final, and close — at which point the employee moves to the Alumni tab.
Frequently asked questions
- Do checklist changes affect exits already in progress?
- No. Each exit snapshots the templates as they are when it starts, so editing a template later never rewrites an exit that's already running — only future exits pick up the change.
- Can different exit types have different tasks?
- Yes. Build the task templates that fit your process; when HR starts an exit, the relevant clearance tasks are pre-populated so nothing is forgotten.
