How do I approve a leave request in ASHR.work?

Approve, reject, or escalate team leave requests from the Team Leaves tab. One click approves; reasons are required for rejection.

Quick answer

Managers open Time Off → Team Leaves to see every pending request for their team. Review the details and validation flags, then click Approve, Reject (with a reason), or Escalate. The employee is notified by email either way.

The approval flow

  1. Open Team Leaves

    Managers use /dashboard/leave/manager. Admins use /dashboard/leave/admin for org-wide view.
  2. Triage pending

    The Pending tab shows every request awaiting your action, newest first.
  3. Check flags

    Flags include back-dated, overlapping dates, insufficient balance, and holiday conflicts. They are warnings, not blockers.
  4. Approve, reject, or escalate

    Approve is one click. Reject requires a reason (emailed to the employee). Escalate hands the decision to the next level.

What gets audit-logged?

Every approve/reject/escalate action is logged with your name, timestamp, and reason. Admins can see the trail under Admin → Audit. This is the source of truth for any policy dispute.

Frequently asked questions

What do the validation flags mean?
Flags highlight requests that need extra attention — back-dated, overlapping a holiday or another leave, or exceeding balance. Read the flag, then decide. Approval is still one click.
Can I approve leave on behalf of another manager?
Admins can. Managers see only their direct reports. If a manager is on vacation, an admin can approve on their behalf from /dashboard/leave/admin.
What is the escalation window?
The number of hours your admin has configured (default 48). If you do not act within the window, the request is escalated automatically and audit-logged.
Does rejection notify the employee?
Yes. An email with your rejection reason is sent immediately. The employee can withdraw and re-submit if the reason can be addressed.
