Quick answer

Managers approve leave, run quarterly appraisals for direct reports, give and receive feedback, and use the team dashboard to see pending work. Everything you need is under Manager in the sidebar.

Your day-to-day workflows

  1. Review the team dashboard

Open Manager → Home to see pending leave approvals, review cycles, and the team tree.
  2. Approve leave

Time Off → Team Leaves shows everything awaiting you. One click approves; use the reason box for rejections. Read how to approve leave for edge cases.
  3. Run appraisals

At the start of each cycle, Reviews shows pending appraisals for your reports. Use the 5-point scale across Job Knowledge, Productivity, Communication, Initiative, and Customer Execution.
  4. Give feedback

Manager → Feedback records continuous feedback. Aim for one observation per report per month — it compounds into better reviews.

What to do in the first week

  • Walk through each direct report in the team tree and verify reporting lines look right.
  • Set expectations with the team on when you approve leave (e.g., within 24 hours).
  • Review the appraisal criteria with your reports so nothing is a surprise at review time.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see my team?
Manager → Team shows every direct report. Manager → Home shows the collapsible team tree including sub-team hierarchies.
What happens when I escalate a leave request?
Escalation triggers an email to the next level up and an admin audit-log entry. The original request stays editable until someone takes a final action.
Can I delegate appraisals?
Not in V1. Manager appraisals are owned by the direct manager. Peer feedback is the delegation mechanism for broader input.
